1. I have never encountered horror in a face-to-face manner, but have always felt someone, something unexplained, lingering in the dark.
2. I used to go to spend my summer vacations every year to Kandarpur, Cuttack, my ajja's(mother's father) place and Buxibazaar, Cuttack, my jejebaapa's(father's father) place.
3. I don't like to watch horror so much, but I love to read horror more.
4. I lost my father in a traumatic accident in the year 2024, the last thing he told me, was to release "Bhoota Gappa".
5. I am a science student, and I believe science can be tampered to make reality suffer.
In August 2024, Bhoota Gappa began quietly.
There was no grand announcement.
No marketing machinery.
No promise of scale.
Only a belief that folklore still breathes, that fear still travels through generations, and that stories whispered in childhood deserve to be written before they disappear.
Today, with the soft launch of BhootaGappa.com, that belief has taken form.
Five books now stand as milestones of this journey. Each one carries not just stories, but fragments of lived memories, inherited myths, and the echoes of over 10,000 horror experiences shared across regions, cultures, and communities.
What started as a single idea rooted in Odisha’s folklore has grown into something far larger than I imagined. Today, more than 5 million people are familiar with the name Bhoota Gappa. The books have climbed to #1 in Odisha Horror Books, but rankings alone do not define this journey.
What truly matters is that Bhoota Gappa has become a space where folklore is preserved, where fear is explored, and where readers rediscover the thrill of stories that feel both ancient and immediate.
This website marks the next phase.
BhootaGappa.com is not just a place to buy books. It is the doorway to a growing horror universe — one that will bring immersive experiences, deeper folklore explorations, research logs, reader contributions, and storytelling formats that extend beyond the page.
Because horror, when rooted in culture, is never just entertainment.
It is a part of your memory.
It is a warning.
It is a piece of your identity.
As I continue to build and expand this world, bringing more unsettling and immersive experiences to your doorstep, remember one simple thing.
When the lights go off, and silence grows heavier than usual…
you know where to go.
Welcome to Bhoota Gappa!
