The Bhoota Gappa Journey

Wake Up

The curtains were moving as the night gleamed at me. I was trying to sleep at my relative's place back in Koida, Odisha. I was working at the mines and had an early morning shift. Suddenly, at around 2 AM, I felt like I saw someone behind the curtains. The lights were switched off, but a shadow was visible due to the faint light coming from the corridor light.

I got a bit startled and nervous, so I drank some water and tried to go back to sleep. A little later, I could see someone moving all over the place like a black shadow running. Then, I felt someone pushing my body out of the cot and saw a face close to me asking me to wake up. As I looked at the face, it just faded away with the darkness, but I could clearly remember its touch right on my chest.

As soon as it was dawn, I woke up and fled from the place. My relatives mentioned a haunted neighborhood that resulted in some weird encounters of a shadow trying to wake up people who are fast asleep.

The Bhoota Gappa Journey

From Childhood Fear to a Fearless Universe of Storytellers There was a time when horror stories were not just stories. They were warnings whispered by grandparents during power cuts, mysteries shared by cousins under mosquito nets, and folklore carried from one generation to another through trembling voices and curious eyes. Long before algorithms decided what we watched, ghost stories already knew how to unite people. Fear was the language. Imagination was the bridge. That is where Bhoota Gappa truly began. Not as a website. Not as a brand. But as a feeling. A feeling every child has experienced at least once — hearing footsteps in an empty corridor, staring into darkness after a power cut, or wondering whether the stories elders told were actually real. Bhoota Gappa was born from that universal emotion of fear slowly transforming into curiosity, courage, and eventually fearlessness. Today, Bhoota Gappa stands as more than just a horror book series. It has evolved into a ...

Why did you write "2minhorrorstories"?   As an afternoon ritual back in my childhood days, my grandmother used to always narrate us stories about ghosts, witches, and unexplained incidents from her childhood, youth, to her middle age.    Those stories, enabled me to enter into a realm of a parallel dimension, that had some power beyond realism. Share Your "Bhoota Gappa" (Paranormal Experience)

In Odisha, and I believe maximum villages or rural cities in India, in the 90s era, when power outages used to be a usual norm. Anytime there was a storm, or a rainy day, in the evenings, the houses had no light, just a candle or an oil lamp amidst a group of family members with kids trying to mimic studying, while they are all distracted by all the insects flying to and fro the candle light. They start asking a question or a two to the elders, after which, storytime is officially triggered. The eldest of the house, starts telling a story of when they were a kid, and were accompanied by a friend or traveling by themselves. The story genre usually was horror, as kids used to be excited as well as curious of things that still remain unexplained. That's when "Bhoota Gappa", or a "Ghost Story", came into existence, where people shared their experiences, in which they encountered something or someone that they couldn't explain but somewhere in their minds it st...
